Alright, this is the situation. I can't join a game when my friend is in one. For example, in Age of Empires 3, i host a game and one of my other friends can join, but the one who i am having the problem with can't. This happens also when my friend who can join hosts the game and my friend who i have the problem joins but i can't. This occurs on several other games such as Starcraft and Civ 4. We've tried removing the firewalls but that hasn't worked and we also updated the .NET Framework and that did not work. What's the problem?

Remember, some games don't support the same cd-key being used either. (Read: Fucking EA) See if you can find each other on the network too. I've had these problems before, but I got around it by having someone else host the games.
Cheers!

Ok, srs answer now..
Look to see what ports the game uses, You may need to unblock some.
Or use a neat little program called "hamachi" to create a virtual private network, then you can trick the game into thinking you are running a LAN game ( may need to "Direct join" ) and bam, problem solved.
