um yeah.
other responses go a bit like 'at least it has a plot with a 40k twist and as a movie it isn't bad. it's a fun movie that you get together friends and stuff and blah blah blah." i agree with this in most points, but i tell it like this 'there is a plot but the 40k twist is a bit predictable. give you a clue - there's chaos space marines. the action and dialogue isn't that great and you'll need something to distract you so you don't think while you're watching the movie'.
ok, so the plot )which is the part of the movie i put under the microscope) - was written by dan abnet and i guess was ok considering my expectations. they could have emphasized the actual space marine because they didn't seem too super soldier. the weapons seemed a lot more bad arse than originally imagined, and they explore the roles of important positions in a chapter like apothecary and chaplin. ah, yeah the twist. it wasn't much of a twist because it happens alot, especially if you've exposed yourself to a lot of dawn of war.
now for the cinematic experience. ok, when i was a kid i played with these toys by lego called bionicle (i did building and mechano when i was a kid) and they had movies which were animated. that. i mean i could look at the obvious resources that crysis and avatar had. um yeah, it was level 3 paintjob. they did blood and reflections well though. it's not bad enough that you loose the story i guess.
finnally i guess i have to round it up out of 5 stars or whatever. it's a 40k movie i guess. that's the big thing. relative to other releases it's crap but i guess you could watch it with some friends and not take is seriously. if you did than you'll feel like a historian watching inglorious bastards. so because i'm a 40k fan-
