This is one that many would want. It's also one that can go and has gone horribly wrong.
So, I'm opening this thread to discuss possible ways of running it. There are some smart people amoung us, so it shouldn't be hard to find an answer.

Well establish some rules in general. No senseless rp's, there should be a clear path the rp is headed (Not just your on planet X, HAVE FUN!), the gm should be in controll.
Really what I want to see is something more structured than the drivel that spawns on TTH

I for one suggest from here on out we implement a second thread for all RP's.
This thread will serve for all off topic and RP related discussions.
This would enable our RPs to come to life easier.

If you'd like to lay ground rules for an RP section, I would reccomend slamming your head in to a wall as a faster alternative.
You can't put rules on immmaaaaginaaation.
Seriously though, people can't seem to keep an end goal in mind. I'm not sure it would be worth the collective moderation effort.

I do feel welcome.
But, back on topic, I'd just leave the RP section to its own devices. When everyone moderates, mor-ans will eventually be weeded out.

I second Polyphemus' opinion.
If the roleplay is going to get off the ground and establish itself in any decent form, it probably should have separation.

I've PMed Fungus A about his badass Wild West one.
I think we should give it the chance it didn't get earlier.
He's made his own system and everything, we just need to fill his town(s) and start shooting!

I think we just need some good guidelines.
I partook in 1 RPG on the hive (Before it went horrid) and I had no clue what I was doing and it was not a fun experience. We need a "how to" or "RPing for dummies" guide.
Once we learn how, We can all RP in a decent and productive way

If you don't know how to RP, you don't know. RP'ing is a combination of fiction writing, D&D style RPGs and reaching into your inner nerd/geek. And considering your first RP was on TTH, i'm not suprised it was dissapointing.

YOU MEAN AN ARG? Just kidding... Though yeah, that system is probably the best way to go. I'm currently using a modified version for an RPG called LIVE (li-vuh, not Lie-vv) that'll take place off site. I like the idea of a seperate RP discussion board, but a sub board would keep things looking smoother. |

You could always do a literature board, you know, reading and writing in general, and have roleplay in there (perhaps as a subboard, perhaps not). Depends really, we don't want too many boards... anyway, just throwing that out there.

But what is the rest of the site, if not reading & writing? A place to eye-listen & brain speak?
RP's aren't considered games to me.
As the Games here are simple & require little forethought.
I suggest a whole RP board. Reading is media. One more board wouldn't hurt us.
I have a feeling if we give it plenty of room-
It could quite possibly grow to be one of our more popular boards.
As for moderation, it'll hardly be needed if we write our communal expectations well enough. |

I completely agree, after the satisfying but relativly useless raid on the old RP board, I think that There should be a whole new board, but with many stickied threads explaining precisely how to RP on NewGen.

I think a poll isn't really necessary here.
If you have qualms about an entirely new board.
Speak now or forever hold your peace, or not. Maybe your voice can crush it later.
Everybody runs the show, so I can't promise anything.
But if we are on our best behavior, "they" have no reason complain in the onest place!

Well, what type of RP are we talking about? Just random RP's that pop up like daises? or ones that actually have plot, rules, detail, etc.?
