TRYGON: I am having this up as an announcement temporarily. Many people are treating balls like karma and giving it out for trivial things. This is not what this system is meant for. Read this damn topic and practise what it says.
You've all heard of karma, right? Well, this isn't anything like that.
This is a system designed by Trygon (who also designed the site BTW. Make sure to thank him) that, essentially, awards courage and punishes cowardice. It integrates with the methodology of "Everyone's a moderator, and no one's a moderator" that defines New General justice.
A member who's working to keep things clean, to stop arguments and pointless flame, and admits they were wrong when it turns out that way... they've got balls. It takes balls (or, if balls don't appeal to you, "guts") to do those things, and having balls is a stepping stone to getting that respect that's the point of rule 5. If you see someone do one of these things or anything else that takes serious balls, show it with a simple click. They deserve it. A BALLSY person is one who's a paragon of NG.
Insulting people, inciting mass hatred and being a general dick... that doesn't take balls! If you're the sort of person that does this, you need to get some balls. We don't do that. If you do that... then you're balls will go down, because you ain't got nothin' going to keep them. The less balls you have, then the less you try to solve problems, and how does that saying go? If you're not part of the solution, then you're part of the problem. That ain't cool.
Balls posting is totally anon, so if someone is UNBALLS or tries to corral you into UNBALLSY behaviour there's no reason to fret rippin' out their balls. They don't deserve them.
Now, this isn't a system of praise and hate for decent and lame actions, like karma is.
It's a system of praise and punishment for doing what's right. If you think someone's done something that's pretty cool then tell them they're awesome. They'll appreciate it and you'll be awesome in their eyes too!
PS: Yes, "balls" can have a double meaning. We know, it's pretty obvious. Calm down children.
