This is the robot thread I've been planning to make for the last few weeks. I've poked around and found a few interesting robo-technicians brain children.
First up, BIG DOG.
Next, The Cubinator.
And now for something completely different.
And I'm supposed to end on a laugh...
So yeah this is just a handful. What other wonders have we created? Doesn't have to be a traditional robot, it could just be a new car or phone etc.

little fact about asimo - those who think it's completely autonomous are dumb. most of it's actions are either preprogrammed or remotely human assisted.

This is true, asimo is not truly a robot, but a souped up remote-controlled android.
However, it would not be hard to attach cameras and various sensors to give it autonomy, perhaps not as much as a real human (that's a good distance off), but autonomy nonetheless.

I suppose one could have gathered that from the video, after it did not climb back onto it's feet.

I love the Big Dog stuff!
Especially the lateral corrections.
Shades of Terminator units to come!

Agreed! That ice patch scene is not only incredibly comical, it's fascinating.

They have managed to accurately imitate a quadruped's actual responses to terrain.

The big dog blew my mind, it's so natural in it's movements, it's was unbeleivably fluent, and completely autonomous? When the man kicked it, it stumbled, and regained balance much like an animal would. It's amazing.

A hur hur hur. Someone from another part of the internet linked me to this: www.futuretimeline.net/index.htmI find it interesting. Obviously a lot of it is gonna be wrong, either when it happens or if it ever will, but regardless, certain things, like the Bionic Eye, they're already being perfected, so you can assume that it'll happen.
