Getting Back Into Console Gaming

Yup, I am picking up a console again
I am going to get an Xbox 360, so at the moment I am making a list of games I want. I am going to do competitive gaming, doing some local tourneys and what not. Any multiplayer game suggestions? SO far:

Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood
Dance Dance Revolution
Rock Band
Halo 3
Call of Duty
Project Gotham Racing
Soul Caliber
Virtua Fighter

Multiplayer? 360? Sorry, though you said Left 4 Dead 2 there for a second.

Don't get it for 360... if you're going to get ANY valve game ever, get it for PC. Valve constantly updates their games, with downloadable content, same as other companies. But if it ever does come out on Xbox, you have to pay for it. Not so for PC, they come free with the game. And constant patches to fix little bugs and add new things to the game.

Seriously, if you want a Valve game, stay on your computer. Aside from that, I recommend Far Cry 2 and Fallout 3.

Bear in mind, this is dependent on whether he wants to multiplayer online or not. Left 4 Dead 2 got my vote for 360 cos it's easy to Lan and you can splitscreen it.

Multiplayer X-Box 360?

CoD: MW2
Halo (whichever is most current [wait for reach])
L4D2 is basically the best multiplayer experience ever
Transformers: WfC (single player super sucked but apparently multiplayer was awesome)


PS I've stopped playing multiplayer since Halo 1 due to the fact I'm super sucky at them and can't compete at all. L4D is fun because you're playing with rather than against but if competitive is what you're after CoD is the staple.

At least on PC, I encounter the occasional Vs. server where if you screw up once, you get kicked by overzealous assholes on L4D2, but I don't know about Xbox.

Well, let's appraise:

Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood (Never been into it, so wouldn't know)
Dance Dance Revolution (Tea, this is Japan. Of course you should!)
Rock Band (Much of a muchness between Guitar Hero and this one... but then again they're the same game at the end of the day.)
Halo 3 (No. It's dead. Wait for the new one, it looks pretty damn good and come out in a month or so)
Call of Duty (I would say it was dead... or at least dying. It's not as fun as it once was. Wait and see.)
Project Gotham Racing (Never been into it, I usually end up turning around and smashing headlong into the guy coming first.)
Soul Caliber (Good I guess... but right around the corner... MORTAL KOOOOOOMBAAAAAAAT!!!)
Virtua Fighter (No idea)

So yeah, looks alright. A lot of that'd be pretty cheap too!

I'll bring up what I know.

Rock Band - Guitar hero's multiplayer was, interesting. I can't see this being different.
Halo 3 - Wait for Reach. Definitely.
Call of Duty - I never liked the multiplayer on this, but I played on PC where everything's hyped to the max as is. The few times I played on a console it wasn't any better though.
Project Gotham Racing - I don't know if it's a regular racing game or not, but I like Forza for my racing needs.
Soul Calibur - Please, just don't. Multiplayer is a wasteland which you'll get out of, and it takes only waiting for your turn for it to loose its shine.

Now I play more of the classic Xbox games and so far only Gears of War, Forza 3 and occasionally Halo as far 360 goes. For good reason.

Haha don't worry about that good sir. I AM a PC gamer. Probably have to best rig here unless someone has not mentioned having a badass box. I am just going to pick console games as well. I will never play a Valve game outside of my computer.
