I'm pretty sure that this site was supposed to be founded on the principle of freedom... So the title bar on the front page for "The Rules" section must change.
Having the the thought of having our arses banned for not reading the rules, especially at the top of the front page, does not a friendly forum make.

It's a joke. Not a "ha ha" joke... more of a "Just kidding" joke. I'd be surprised if everyone has read all the rules, and besides, you only understand the premise of the forum after you've read the rules.
My vote is keep it. However, what would you have it changed to Vespid? I'll not staunchly support the current if something that's better comes up!

How 'bout if instead of 'the rules' you call it 'guidelines'? So they are just the same, you tell people what we expect, but your not saying they're rules, more of a common sense kinda' thing.

I think you should call them "Broomfondle" and they should only apply to every other member.

I realise that it is meant to be a bit of a joke... but that's largely because I know this community. To someone new, that's going to be a big turn off.
"Read, Learn and Observe"? "Learn how to be Free"? I'm not sure of what else to put there...

The rules are called the guideleines... but as an eyecatcher they'll stay "the rules". I'd imagine people would be more compelled to read rules rather than guidelines, if they read it at all. Well, let me think. Can't get too formal, must use imperative to get people to do it, can't make it a turn off. How about... hmmm... I'll get back to you on that.

... Perhaps you are misunderstanding me, or me you.
I don't mind the title "The Rules". That's what they are. It's the "Read them, or I'll ban your arse!" that is going to turn off the newbies.

It encouraged me, it shows that the forum is well moderated. But once you read them, it shows that, well, there isn't much to be moderated really.

If "Read them, or I'll ban your arse!" is enough to turn off newbies, then the said newbies shouldn't really be here. They'd get torn to bits in a regular thread.
For someone that is easily intimidated or offended, posting on NewGen is like hitting themselves in the head with a blunt instrument, over and over again.

If "posting on NewGen is like hitting themselves in the head with a blunt instrument, over and over again" is New Gen... what the hell is 4Chan? Actually, don't answer that. The mind is already reeling at the possibilities...

Eh... maybe. We're not that bad. Well, lets see... Man the fuck Up I love you Okay I've NEVER seen a penis 8 inches long, and to be honest, I'm looking at my ruler, and 8 inches just looks rediculously too big... Burn in pedo hell forever, weeaboo scum. what does vomiting and the runs have to do with ejaculation? I have looked into it and it looks really HOMOSEXUAL. *Rides up on megadeath justice pony* What the fuck is going on here? The words Shut the Fuck up come to mind and anyone who presses that point will need a firm junk punch (I am open for business on Sundays if you need anyone hit.) I masterbate the right amount, thank you very much! fucking fuckity fuck fuck! Q: Do you know how to get to Park Meadows?
A: Yeah, take the 4th exit off of highway 56 and go fuck yourself. So yeah, if "Read them, or I'll ban your arse!" intimidates or offends you; NewGen is not for you.
