The manager of my local GW had his manager come in the other day and I overheard a couple juicy rumors. First off, Orcs & Goblins are getting remade soon. Don't know if this will be after Tomb Kings and Ogre Kingdoms, before, or somewhere in between. This is not very surprising considering O&G are to Fantasy as Space Marines are to 40k. But I think the biggest thing attached to this rumor is, and I am not happy about this, that the Army Book is going to be "hard cover"...yeah...not cool for the other armies. Now second is one that I am happy about, extremely excited in a matter of fact. In the Warriors of Chaos book there is a special character by the name of 'Kholek Suneater'. Well coming soon, he is getting a model for himself Now this is where it gets even better. You may have seen the metal 'Dragon Ogre Shaggoth' model before. If you have you know that it is very good looking and a fairly good size. Well apparently the new Kholek model is going to make this thing look like a puppy in comparison. I look forward to this being that I play a Monsters of Chaos army. Glad I don't have to convert this guy now

Those Incubi swords look nice, but the models don't. May just be the picture quality of course. And if there are only male Eldar for the Dark Eldar I am sad. I accept that male and females in flak armour look almost identical, but for Eldar it's just way obvious. Grr, hate Kholek. He's the biggest reason warmachines were invented... Unintended pun? Cheers!

There will be male and female Dark Eldar in the Wych and Warrior plastic boxes, or so I am told.

That's always nice. I'll expect no more than what you get in the current Eldar Guardian box. I do realise that the day GW takes up gender equality the world will end in flames, but still, keeping true to some parts of the story is always nice!
Cheers!

To be honest, they are just models. In my opinion, gender only really matters when one gender is a majority, or the model is an individual character (ie: not a stock trooper).
The last point also applies to armies where the troopers are often done up as individual characters in their own right. For example, my conversion heavy Word Bearer zealot army has very individual troops, so gender tends to go off what looks good.
I suppose what I am saying, is when you make stock troops you only need to represent the majority in the army (or squad type in the case of stuff like the banshees). And no, I don't buy the 50/50 gender thing with the guard, because that just isn't possible, nor is mentioned anywhere in fluff.
In the case of Wychs, there is no gender majority, so having both genders makes sense.

Male wychs? The name doesn't work well for me but I'm sure it will be fine I have recently however been toying with the idea of a full female gaurd regiment. I don't think aside from the head there will be much issue and I'll be making almost every one in fully enclosed helmets. Those without helmets will be obviously female... Only male I think will be the commisar I think... Female commisars fluff wise seem to be a rarity and I'm guessing not every female regiment would be able to get one. Ah well I need to finish my 1k sons first.

Yes, I understand that. What I'm just wanting, despite they being simple models is something more than a 'it's raining (space) men ZOMG!' feeling. To be honest I really couldn't care less, but it makes it easier for folks like me who like mixing it up. Currently the Guardian box is the only source of a female torso for my Vyper and Jetbike squads, which is about everything I want them for anyway. (Unless I want to deck out the Greenstuff, which is easier, but I'm lazy)
I don't know about a 50/50 guard either, but as I said those who feel a need for it can pretend as their really isn't much difference anyway.
Cheers!

THe difference is very subtle but thank you for that. I may do the simple removing of the belt and modification to the feet a tad. AS i said most of the army will be in a fully enclosed helmet so faces will not be seen. Sergeants and officers probably wont and those heads will be useful. Thanks again

I'd suggest the Lord of the Rings route myself. It involves less work, and also, lets say you want to have Space Amazons and use the Easterling plastic kit. For around the same price as 10 Cadians, you get 20 Easterlings. You'd need to arrange an arm swap for gun holding arms (Empire handgunner arms from a bitz site?), and a head swap (maybe Microarts Studio Amazon helmeted heads?), but you'd save TONS and get unique infantry with very little work.
Plus, Lord of the Ring infantry also come with accompanying command sets, heroes, cavalry, and such, so you'd get lots of extra stuff to convert from regarding other unit types.

They seem to have taken out the scorpion motif for Incubi. They just look like Chaos Eldar now.

That does worry me a little, their Tormentor Helms were their big thing really. They do seem slightly chaosy, just hope they retain some eldary sleekness.
Also, Male Wyches sound odd, but there's also Female Incubi.
It's the Wyches I want to see. Wonder how they'll do those...

I don't see why male Wyches are too odd considering they have always been.
